ANTITRUST POLICY
The Houston Chemical Association is organized to foster education of chemical
manufacture and distribution and to promote the general interests of manufacturers and
distributors of chemicals. These worthwhile activities are sanctioned by custom and by law. It
is important, however, to recognize that these activities are subject to the legal limits of state
and federal antitrust laws. These laws cover a variety of activities, including combinations in
restraints of trade, monopolization and discriminatory pricing.
It is the express policy intention of the Houston Chemical Association to comply at all
times with all existing and future laws concerning antitrust. It is further the intention that all
members of the Houston Chemical Association should comport themselves at all times so as to
avoid even the appearance of a violation of any of the antitrust laws.
A set of circumstances may be entirely innocent, and lawful when viewed separately.
But the same set of circumstances, when viewed in the aggregate may be held to constitute a
conspiracy. To this end, we would recommend that you avoid any discussions with
competitors about customers or matters involving price, sales terms, territories, production or
any element of competition. This is equally important in informal social gatherings and official
meetings.
Violation of the Houston Chemical Association antitrust policy is ground for removal of
the member from the association.
